Faraz Ahmed Rizwan received his M.A. from the University of Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. His areas of interest include: religious studies with a special emphasis on Sufism and Islamic law, Islamic history and political thought, and modern Pakistani history
His research interests include: the origins of Sufi order, the connection between Sufism and politics in medieval India, and the role of Sufism in shaping modern Pakistan. He is currently teaching at the University of Hawaii at Manoa as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Religious Studies.
